DURING THE LAST 10 YEARS THE WORK WITH THE INFANTILES AT THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC IS GOING DOWN

According to the results of a study published recently by the local authorities, during the last 10 years in the Dominican Republic there was a 14% reduction of the infantile work. According to this data, the country grows on towards the eradication of the worst ways of infantile education for the year 2015 and the elimination of all kinds of explotation for the year 2020, as it was foreseen by the International Organization of the Work (OIT) and the office of the National Fund of Emergency. To the study, being done between December 2009 and January 2010, 9,119 homes shared and 8,540 children between 5 and 17 years old were interviewed. According to the local Work Ministry, more than 89% of the children and adolescents of the Dominican Workers are capable to continue their studies. The country is among the ones most advanced at the fight against the infantile work, a tendency going down. The highest rates are registered in the South West of Bahoruco,  Independencia, Pedernales and Barahona, provinces with a 24.5% while the lowest one in the National District and the province of Santo Domingo with an 8%.
